Hundreds of extracting tools exist, of which most are free. There aren’t a lot of differences between them, but Extract Now does differ from the other free extracting tools. It’s small, it’s powerful, without any kind of ads and it´s incredibly easy to use.
When I first downloaded Extract Now, it did only support rar archives, but now it extracts the most popular archive types (rar, zip, tar, iso, etc.) and so it has become a real extracting tool. The power of this tool is that you can extract multiple files with only one click, by just dragging a few files in the window, and clicking "extract". No extra windows that are opening, nothing, just a drag and a click. This makes this tool probably the easiest extracting tools there is on the web.
Next to this easy extracting, the application offers some options for organizing your extracted stuff (map name, map location etc,). For example, it gives you the possibility to delete extracted archives or move them to a special archive folder.
With some quick tests (version 4.39) of extracting splitted rar archives, normal rar archives, zipped files, tar archives an gz archives, it seems to do rar and zip archives flawless, but it has some problems with some (not all) tar and gz archives, which isn’t very problematic, as I don’t seem to use those types of archives, but it isn’t nice if you say that your tool supports them.
If you don’t already have a extraction tool on your computer (which is nearly impossible anno 2008), I can recommend Extract Now. It’s probably the simplest tool around, and it will work with most of the supported archives. It also has enough options to fulfill most of your needs, and it’s just great to be able to extract a lot of archives in one window with just one click, especially when you are using usenet. Next to this, it’s completely ad free, without even a link to the maker (well, the help button brings you to his website).
