Your monthly compilation of time wasting is back, this month with some puzzle games. Brain training seems to be important, so try them out.
The Time Wasters of September 2009:
Battlefield 2 (Paid Game for PC)
4 Years after the release, Battlefield 2 seems to return into the spotlight with patch 1.50. It enables you to play all the downloadable addons for free, fixes a few bugs and it adds a brand new map. Reasons enough to install it again and try these new changes. However, they didn’t fix the bugs in the security that enable people to use aim bots etc. but if you don’t mind it, try it. It should be a really cheap game now.

Omerta (Browser Based Gangster RPG)
Interesting game. Work yourself up to be a big boss in the mafia by doing illegal things (duh). It seems to take a lot of time because you’re catched with every move you make, and I’ve got a feeling that you can be killed pretty easily. It’s not a game that you can play once a day and come very far. It goes on and on and on. If you like it, it sure eats up your time, and you always wanted to be a gangster, try it, it’s free.

Vector Tower Defense (Tactical Flash Game)
A great looking tower defense game. Put towers along a pre-determined road on which enemies will walk, and hope they won’t reach the end. The first few levels are pretty easy, but you can make it as hard as you want. Should burn up quite some spare time.

Dragonica (Free to play MMORPG)
A sort of side scrolling 3D MMORPG. Basic storyline, probably basic quests, but it works fine. Seems to be enough to do and the controls aren’t standard. It’s really arcade, and you can control everything using only your keyboard, a lot better than the clicking around like in most MMO’s. The artwork is quite anime-like, but certain things make it very kiddy, which doesn’t make this MMORPG suitable for everyone. You probably get most fun out of this game by questing with other people.

Time Stop (Open Source Puzzle Game)
This game is still in a pretty primitive state, for example, you need to get the controls out of the readme file, but it seems to work, and you don’t need to install it. The game is quite hard (even after you’ve figured out how it works), and it’ll take some time to solve all the puzzles. Nevertheless, there’s no high score list, and you can play every level you want, so you’ll have to make up your own challenges. If you liked the splitter flash game I posted a while ago, you’ll certainly like this one.
